Just heard that Steve West (El Diablito) is calling it a day with his Salsamania events in Bristol. He'll still be Djing for Andy on a Thursday in Cardiff for the foreseeable future. I've had some great nights in his venues and he's been one of the most hard-working promoters around. I assume that the reason he's given up is because of the difficulty of getting and keeping salsa venues because dancers just don't drink enough. Shame.

Salsa dancers moan about people who drink too much, clubs moan about people who don't drink enough. Which one is correct? The dancers or the clubs?
Thanks for your kind words Tom, as you've said I am continuing to DJ at Andy's hopefully it will work out there! I've a feeling the night may veer toward a late Salsa crowd somehow, rather than a late clubby crowd we'll shall see!!
As to the point from Anon as to who is right or wrong it is irrelevant actually as Club owners are the people who dictate the terms of the nights they allow to run on their premises and if they don't find that Salsa is economically viable there won't be any Salsa for you to enjoy in any venue that's worth going to ... It's simple maths really and you need to understand that each individual needs to spend a minimum £5 preferably £10 over the bar, not much to ask really and not necessarily on alcohol, if you want your Salsa night to survive there are no alternatives!!! Reality checks are in order for those who argue against this irrefutable fact...
